Mission statement: We are envoys for the sport of paintball, and, as such, wish to place safety, sportsmanship and comradery at the highest position in our mission.
Code of conduct:
Safety is our primary concern. It is our job to watch for the safety of both others and ourselves. We are to ensure players and personnel on the field are using the safety gear properly, which includes masks and barrel blocking devices
Sportsmanship is what makes our game possible. We will not accept having members who cheat, by any method, as part of our team.
We are here to have fun.We believe that all players, whether team mate or opponent, should treat one another with basic respect. As this is the case, we do not allow racial or ethnic slurs, sexist behavior, foul language or any other form of disrespect to occur on our team.
These principles are the core values of our team, and we strongly encourage others to adopt similar values for the betterment of the sport of paintball, in general.
Dress Code:
When the team is at a team function all members (new members will be given time to purchase shirts) will be required to wear at least a team shirt, jersey, or sweatshirt.
Examples of team functions are listed below (Please note that this list includes only a few examples of team functions, and that other events can be classified as team functions, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Founder).
Any scenario we produce.
Any charity event we produce.
Team Days.
Any scenario we attend as a team.
Leadership structure, Officers:
Founder – Leads and controls the day to day activities of the team. Makes sure all members of the team are taking care of their responsibilities. Presides over quarterly meetings and is tasked with the primary point of contact with sponsors, team members and the general public.
Vice President – Tasked with backing up the Founder and acting in his place and stead if the need arises. Helps the Founder in making sure team members are taking care of their responsibilities. Help keep an open line of communication within the team, from the officers to the Captain, and Co-Captain who then communicate to other players. In charge of recruiting new players. Also handles any responsibilities that the Founder delegates to him/her.
Treasurer – Charged with administering the team finances, collecting dues and paying out for team expenses. Report to the fellow officers when team members do not pay their dues. The Teams financial statements are available at the quarterly team meetings.
Recording secretary – Tasked with recording the meeting minutes, including officer meetings, posting them to the team forum and making any corrections if members express a need to do so. Keeping track, history of the team.
External Communications Officer – Tasked with reaching out to organizations to help raise money for our charity events. Tasked to reach out to organizations to find sponsors for the team and events that we produce.
Definitions:
Team Captain T– Leader of the team when on the field. Will run practices/team days, drills, and teamwork exercises. Will coordinate with the general when we are playing at scenarios. Keep the team informed of what is going on with the team and upcoming events.
Co-Captain – Assumes the duties of the Captain when he is not present. Work with the Captain on the field with organizing practices/team days, drills and teamwork exercises. Works with the Captain with coordination with the general when we are playing at scenarios. Helps the Captain to keep the team informed of what is going on with the team and upcoming events.
Member – A full member of Team Defiance, entitled to all perquisites, including, but not limited to, sponsor discounts, team equipment buys and team bulk admission/paintball purchases.
Probationary member – A person within the six months to one year probationary period. The probationary member is only entitled to the paint and field admission perks at Pasadena Paintball Park. It is strongly recommended that probationary members make themselves available for team events at every opportunity.
Bylaws:
Team Defiance will hold quarterly meetings, to be announced at least thirty (30) days in advance, to allow for the maximum number of members to be present. All members and probationary members are strongly encouraged to attend.
To become a new member you must be “sponsored” by at least two team members and one must be an officer. Once sponsored, and made official to all of the team officers and recorded by the recording secretary you will begin your probationary term.
All new members will be required to go through a six (6) month to a one (1) year probationary period. This is for the team to get to know you as well as you to know the team. Once the probationary period is in the sixth month to one year period, the team will vote as to whether or not you become a full member. This vote will take place at a quarterly meeting.
All members, whether probationary or full, are to pay yearly dues of $150 to the Treasurer. Dues are due between July 27th and October 1st. Dues will be used for team expenses, which will *NOT* include paying for admission, paintballs or equipment for members.
New members joining the team during the year will pay dues based on pro-rating. The pro-rating comes to $12.50 per month. Dues begin once you have been sponsored and made official per bylaw 2. That will also be the date your probationary period begins.
Any member that does not pay dues by October 1st each and every year or otherwise make arrangements with the Treasurer, may be asked to leave the team. This will be voted on by the officers.Players may ask to create a payment plan or be granted a waiver, but they must be approved by officers via majority vote.If a player is removed from the team due to non-payment of dues, the player may return if they are asked and fulfill their previous obligation.
The team cannot tell members what equipment to use unless a sponsor gives us free gear to use.
Officers, Team Captain, and Co-Captains serve a term of 2 years with the exception of the Founder which is a permanent position. The Vice President and Treasurer is appointed by the Founder then the Recording Secretary, External Communications Officer, Team Captain and Team Co-Captains get voted on by all team members and are elected by a simple majority of all team members that are present for the vote.
The team finances are visible to the entire team.If a member would like to see where team dues go, they can request to the Treasurer to see the books. Team dues are also only to be used on team events and functions, are not available to be used personally be any team members.
Any team member can be asked (told) to leave the team for not following by and abiding by the team by laws. Members can be asked if the team feels like that they are not a good fit for the team, example; causing drama and disharmony amongst and within the team. This will be decided on by a majority vote of the officers.
Once these bylaws are voted on and approved by the officers, it can only be changed by an amendment. Any team member can suggest and bring forth an amendment but an amendment can only be added by a majority vote of the officers.
